St. Lawrence Lodge, resident life enrichment department

The life enrichment program at St. Lawrence Lodge is designed to enrich the lives of our residents physically, spiritually and emotionally.

The life enrichment team works hard to keep residents busy and engaged while providing meaningful activities and programs to match resident interests and individual abilities. The pandemic has been very difficult for residents and family members of those residing in long term care. Residents have had to adjust to having very limited visits with their loved ones and the inability to leave the home for any type of social engagements, shopping etc.

If chosen, the St. Lawrence Lodge Life Enrichment Department would be able to take our residents on some adventures, such as visiting the railway tunnel, shows at the Arts Center, rent a bus to take residents for a "fall drive" to see the beautiful fall trees. We desperately need some new craft supplies for fall /winter and Christmas, we need new programs for our men such as Mellissa and Doug vehicle building/painting kits, sensory items for our residents who suffer from Alzheimer's/ Dementia. We recently had a flood in the home which happened to be in our storage rooms and lost many resident games such as rolling basketball, bingo machine, many board games, Christmas decorations/ trees etc. We are hoping to replace these items as they help enrich the lives of our residents. The Pandemic has created so many hardships for our residents, from going prolonged periods of time in lock down, unable to see loved ones, get out for outings, having all live entertainment and large group activities cancelled due to rules of social distancing requirements. This has left our residents feeling isolated , alone and depressed. We are hoping to add new activities to assist them to back to some kind of normal. We are hoping to purchase a blanket warmer. Warm blankets for residents who are feeling unwell, who are at end of life, or just having difficulties sleeping would be beneficial and bring comfort to those who need it.
